‘Where The Wild Things Are’ Drawing
Post-A-Drawing-Friday. (Sorry for the watermark. Had to.) A few people have asked if I ever work in anything besides Prismacolor pencil. I do. On rare occasion. This was drawn with watersoluble Derwent Graphitone pencils from England, on Canson stock.
Maurice Sendak taught me it’s OK to feel grumpy, even when you aren’t having a particularly bad day, and that to be curious and mischevious is to push the boundaries of wonder and imagination – where anything is possible. His death was a stark reminder that I am now a grown-up, someone who understands the finaility of such events…and my childhood slips just a little further away.
